We used a lot of this kind of charger for our equipments. The price is good. The price went up a little from what I bought though.

A Note on the Lights

Good product. 4 stars b/c the manual is misleading. There is a table that tells you what the lights mean, but it is hard to understand. I’ll translate: If top light is green and bottom if off, the battery is charging. If the top light is green and the bottom light is red, you battery is charged. If the top light is off, then the unit isn’t getting power from the wall. Funny how this crucial info is so messed up in the instructions. Happy charging!

Exactly What We Needed

This extension allows us to keep our Deltran Battery Tender completely out of the weather as it is always connected to our travel trailer when in storage. Since it is black I taped a couple of bright colored nylon lines along the length of it so I would be sure to see it before mowing.

I’ve purchased three of these over the years for different vehicles and not a problem at all. They work as advertised, with a ten year warranty to boot. It’s completely waterproof so I use one permanently mounted under the hood of a truck that is used for plowing snow. Using the plow is very battery intensive and draining so when not driving it, I leave it plugged in to keep it charged. In a few hours it fully charges the battery and switches to maintain. Works great!

Great little product. It is an absolute must have if you own a motorcycle and don’t ride it regularly. No more dead and ruined expensive batteries. Compact and inexpensive. No bigger than a cell phone charger. Two thumbs up.

Don’t use for deep cycle batteries

Bought this charger to charge/maintain my deep cycle battery used for emergency power outages. The manual included with this charger even describes it charging deep cycle batteries and gives a charging estimate of ~36hrs. Fine for what I’m looking for. The charger repeatedly aborted the charge on my brand-new battery. Their customer service tech said it wasn’t meant to charge deep cycle batteries due to the higher internal resistance. This should have been made more clear in the packaging, labelling and product description. I’ve lost time and money. Now I have to go buy a ‘real’ charger…

Update – The charger was actually DOA. I returned it and replaced the charger with a new one on an auto-shop recommendation. It is working fine. Schumacher didn’t want to own up to a bum charger when I called them earlier.

I have a sports car with a gel cel battery that isn’t driven daily. Before I bought this product, the battery would often die and I’d have to jump start it. Several people recommended this product to me and it works great. I use the cigarette lighter attachment with this and leave it connected to my car whenever I’m not driving it. There are lights that indicate that it’s on, and whether it’s charging or not.

I got this for the same reason anyone would want a charger/maintainer… and that is to charge a battery and keep it there. I have a classic British sports car that I rarely drive, and until I started using this charger I would return to my car to a dead battery. This charger/maintainer comes with everything you need to quickly connect and disconnect this item, in 3 different ways: eye hole connectors to permanently attach the quick connector to your battery for very easy use, large alligator type clips for temporary use on a car that you want to just charge the battery on, and for super easy use there is a plug for use in the 12volt power outlet or cigar lighter. It has power sensing, so you cant over charge, and it will maintain the proper voltage for as long as it is connected. The wires are long enough from the charger itself to stretch across any car, and the power cable is about 8 feet long. Great little charger/maintainer. I would recommend this to anyone.
